DIY Christmas Tree

If you are out searching for a unique Christmas tree to brighten up your house, why not have some DIY ones?

 

We found this nice alternative Christmas tree from Stowandtellu suitable for small space living or those who prefer minimalist Christmas decor.

 

PS.Remember to wash the cans thoroughly with dishing soap. You can also add in baking soda/vinegar to remove the odors.

Tuna Croquettes

INGREDIENTS

1/3 cup finely chopped carrot


1/3 cup finely chopped celery root


4 tablespoons unsalted butter


1/4 cup minced onion


2 cups all-purpose flour


1 1/2 cups milk, warmed


1 can of Ayam Brand Tuna Chunks in Water, well drained


1 1/2 teaspoons salt


1/2 teaspoon freshly ground white pepper


5 large eggs, lightly beaten


2 cups fine dried bread crumbs


Vegetable oil, for frying

 

METHOD 

1.Add the chopped carrot and celery root and cook over boiling water until just tender, 4 to 5 minutes. Drain and let cool under running water and pat dry.

 

2. Melt the butter in a large saucepan. Add the onion and cook over moderate heat until softened, about 5 minutes. Add 2/3 cup of the flour and cook, stirring, for 1 minute.

 

3. Transfer the mixture to a large bowl and slowly whisk in the milk to form a smooth texture. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over moderate heat, stirring, until bubbling and very thick, about 6 minutes.

 

4. Add the tuna to the white sauce along with the carrots, celery root, salt and pepper. Scrape the croquette mixture into a lightly oiled medium bowl and refrigerate until chilled and firm, at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.

 

5. Spread the remaining 1 1/3 cups of flour in a shallow bowl. Put the eggs and bread crumbs in 2 shallow bowls. Shape the mixture into an oval size. Coat the croquettes with flour, then dip them in the eggs and coat with bread crumbs. Return the croquettes to the eggs and then the bread crumbs to give them a light second coating.

 

6.Transfer the finished croquettes to a baking sheet. Loosely cover with wax paper and refrigerate until chilled, at least 30 minutes.

 

7. Heat 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large deep skillet until shimmering. Cook the croquettes over moderately high heat, until golden and crisp, turning frequently.

 

 

Voila! It is ready to be served.
