Chinese New Year is coming!

On the 19th of February, we will celebrate the Chinese New Year. Food that symbolizes luck and fortune are usually served during the period of Chinese New Year. As most of us would know, having fish during the reunion dinner is one of the most important ingredients in the Chinese custom. However, do you know the reason behind this tradition?

In the Chinese language, the pronunciation of "fish" sounds like "surplus". The Chinese people believe that if there is some surplus remaining at the end of the year, there will be more to come the following year. Hence, this expression turns into auspicious symbol during this festive season.

Try making some Prosperity Golden Wonton for your guests this Chinese New Year! This will be a great symbol of prosperity with fish wrapped into golden wontons.
